A short walk from the river, not a tour of every district
Travellers sometimes arrive expecting one booking to cover Cholon, the outer districts, and the French-colonial core. That is not what is published. Saigon City Highlights meets at Starbucks Waterbus, Bach Dang Wharf, 10B Ton Duc Thang, District 1, and walks about 2.0–2.7 km. The length changes with the group’s finish. The pace is conversational, on pavements, with curbs.
The Saigon Street Food Walking Tour uses the same meeting point at 5:30 PM, runs about 2 hours 30 minutes, and is described as a District 1 evening. It ends in the Ben Thanh Market area. The exact last pin is not identical every night, so do not plan a pickup from a doorway we have not named.
The optional museum finish leaves the District 1 core
After Independence Palace, the landmarks group may walk toward Ben Thanh, which is still in the central district, or continue toward the War Remnants Museum. The museum’s own account places it at 28 Vo Van Tan, District 3. That continuation is optional. It is not on every departure. Entry is not included.
Do not read “District 1 walking tour” as a promise that every step stays inside the district boundary. Read it as the published centre of the walk. If District 3 is a problem for your timing, say so when you enquire, and do not assume the museum ending.
Cholon and the self-guided route are different pages
The Cholon walking guide is a self-guided account of District 5 and, if you extend it, Binh Tay in District 6. We do not sell a Cholon walking tour. City Highlights does not follow that route.
The self-guided District 1 route is for walking without a booking. It is not the guided meeting time, and it is not the five tastings. Use it when you want the map in your own hands. Use the tour pages when you want a guide and a confirmed departure.
What this means for the day
You do not need a city bus between stops on the published walks. You do need comfortable shoes, water, and a bag you can carry. Hotel pickup is not included on the shared format. A District 1 hotel is simply closer to the wharf than a hotel in another district; we do not publish walking minutes from every address.
If you want both the landmarks and the food, they are two enquiries, even though they share a meeting point. Planning the day is about not stacking those hours on top of a timed ticket.
Facts on this page come from the published Saigon walking-tour policies. Where a detail is still open — vendor payment, stall names, stairs, toilets — it is left unstated.
